About The Sports Planner

The Sports Planner is an independent directory and planning tool for Triangle NC players and families navigating youth leagues, adult rec sports, club and travel programs, tryouts, and seasonal registration windows. Users filter by sport, age, level, season, and city — save what fits, build a season plan, and share it in one link. It's built and maintained by a single operator in North Raleigh. No VC funding, no sponsors in the rankings, no data sold.

About the founder

Clay Parker is a Raleigh-based parent and B2B SaaS marketing operator with 12+ years building demand generation programs. He built The Kid Planner first — a Triangle camp finder — to solve his own family's scheduling problem. The Sports Planner is the replicated playbook applied to a much bigger surface area: every league, every sport, every level, for both kids and adults across the Triangle.

Coverage angles

Story angles we're happy to support with data, quotes, and background.

🗺️

"The Triangle has hundreds of leagues — and no central place to find them. Until now."

📅

"Registration windows are the thing every Triangle family searches for and nobody covers well"

👨‍👧

"From The Kid Planner to The Sports Planner: one parent's playbook for filling Triangle whitespace"

🔒

"Free, private, built by a player and parent: what the big sports aggregators get wrong"

🏟️

"Adult rec is the fastest-growing sports demographic in the Triangle — and the hardest to navigate"

Talking points

  • The Triangle metro has ~2M people and ~400K kids in the target youth-sports age band — plus a fast-growing adult rec scene tied to the tech corridor.
  • Sports league discovery is fragmented across dozens of town parks-and-rec sites, club program pages, and private league orgs.
  • Registration windows are short, hidden, and inconsistent across sports and orgs — missing one can mean missing a full season.
  • The Sports Planner consolidates this into one filterable, shareable directory — free, no account required.
